Code of Conduct
The Pan American Society for Evolutionary Developmental Biology (PASEDB) supports an environment for the exchange of scientific ideas that is grounded in dignity and respect for all program participants.  The Society understands that a diverse, inclusive and collegial community culture promotes scientific creativity and progress, and it endeavors to adhere to this culture in all its educational, outreach, conference and awards activities.

No Harassment Policy
Program participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to treat each other with respect.  This expectation applies to the members of the Executive Council, volunteers, members, event attendees, employees, consultants, vendors, and others while representing the Society, and while attending events organized by the Society.

Program participants shall not engage in any behavior that interferes with another’s ability to participate fully in the Society’s activities.  Program participants shall refrain from harassment. Harassment refers to unwelcomed behaviors including but not limited to: epithets, slurs, or negative stereotyping; threatening, intimidating, or hostile acts; jokes that denigrate an individual or a group, or make them feel unsafe; displaying or circulating graphic material that denigrates an individual or group; and real or implied threat of physical, professional, or financial harm. In particular, program participants shall not make unwelcome sexual advances, make requests for sexual favors, or engage in other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual or offensive nature. Those in positions of power need to be cognizant of the fact that those in more junior positions may not be able to freely express their objections or discomfort regarding unwelcome behavior. In addition, behaviors that may seem acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another; participants are expected to choose words and behaviors carefully and wisely.

No Violence Policy
The Society has adopted a policy of “zero-tolerance” with respect to violence in the Society office, while representing the Society elsewhere, and while attending events organized by the Society.  This policy prohibits any threats or acts of violence, as well as any acts of retaliation against anyone who reports harassment or assists in fact finding. The Society reserves the right to dismiss any participant from the meeting without any refund, exclude from future meetings, and/or terminate membership in the Society if there is evidence of this policy being violated. The society strives to maintain fairness and confidentially during any disputes.

Reporting
If a program participant discovers any conduct which they believe violates this policy or is otherwise detrimental to the Society, they are asked to promptly report it to the current society president (Karen Crow, [email protected]) in writing.

Meeting Photography/ Videography Policy
Photography and video recording of scientific presentations or poster presentation using any device, are prohibited without the explicit consent of the author(s) and presenter(s).
Upon registering for the PASEDB 2025 biennial meeting, participants agree to allow official photographers to record their participation and reproduce their likeness for marketing and informational purposes.

Tweeting Policy
We invite you to share your PASEDB 2025 Meeting experience via social media! Please note, however, that sharing of raw data presented at the conference or of photos of presenters' slides is prohibited without specific consent of the author. Meeting attendees may share publicly available information (e.g. talk titles, names of speakers, events and socials). Individuals who do not comply will be removed from the session.
