Bob Goldstein's Nomination of Frank Smith for Treasurer
Frank started his own lab at University of North Florida a year and a half ago, studying diversification of body plans using Panarthropod animals -- mostly tardigrades, and beetles. He's one of the most personable people I know, and I'm sure he'd do a very responsible job. And he's a committed evo-devo-ist. The current secretary, Dave Angelini, has been like a big brother to Frank (they each trained in Elizabeth Jockusch's lab), so if Frank were elected, I'm sure a transition of responsibilities would go smoothly. And I think he'd be a terrific person to get involved at this level because I expect he'll be a super-valuable long-term member of the community.
