Eric Haag's Nomination of Leslie Pick for President-Elect
It is my pleasure to nominate my UMD colleague, Prof. Leslie Pick, as a candidate for PASEDB President. She has a long history of rigorous EDB research (funded by several different agencies), focused on the evolution of Hox gene function. She has worked in different countries and types of institutions over her career, including a stint as an rotating NSF program officer. She has considerable administrative experience, including serving as founding PI/director of UMD's NIH molecular and cell biology T32 training grant and her current role as Chair of the Department of Entomology. She has amassed an admirable track record of training junior scientists. She’s also about as conscientious and fair-minded as they come.
